I’ve been writing about games with a bit of a cultish undertone for quite a while now. I’m not going to go into all of it but there has been talk about the video game “cult simulator” and how it relates to certain cults and the games that are associated with them.
The most popular cult simulator is the one that was first released in 2001. It’s a science fiction simulator where characters and creatures are set at a certain time and place, but the game takes place in the real world and the game is based on a fictional world where there’s no time for them to go anywhere.
The game does look very much like a cult simulator but the graphics are a little different and it’s not like they’re all going to work together.
The games that are associated with the various cults are usually played by members of the cult, and the game puts them in the role of a “god” or “leader” as the game title suggests. These games are usually set in pre-apocalyptic times or in the future. They have very limited play time and are not intended for casual players.
As if the games are not just a little too much, the game asks players to go through a number of different times of day and nights to complete the game. It seems to me that the creators of the game felt that the game had to be more than just a game of ‘hey I beat the game you can check it out here’.

It’s easy to see why people might not like the games. The game seems to have a serious cult following. This is a good thing though because it means the game doesn’t seem to put too much effort into trying to be a serious game and instead just focuses on being fun for the people who play it.
And it does indeed seem to be fun. I’ve spent some time trying to track down a person or group who plays the game or who knows them and have yet to find anyone who plays the game, but it’s not something that’s hard to do. The game’s gameplay is also very similar to those of other games in the same genre, like the “time loop” games like Turok and Metroid.
In other words, you can play the game as a fan, or simply as a fan of games with time loops. Personally I think the former is a little more fun and more appropriate.
In the sequel, Deathloop 2, you can play yourself as a fan of games with time loops. I think you can play the game as a fan of games with time loops in the same way as you can play as a fan of games without them.
