I’m now using my Google Fi to transfer my music to my new phone. It is quite convenient, but I am beginning to regret the fact that I used my old phone to transfer music to my new phone.
Google Fi is Google’s fiber optic broadband service. It has a really nifty feature in which you can transfer music to a nearby device, like a car, for a few bucks. Google Fi has a lot of really cool features, but the only one that really stood out to me was the ability to transfer music to a phone.
I was actually pretty surprised that Google Fi wasn’t a part of the transfer service. I have used it with my music in the past, but I really only use it for texting. I guess I should have done a transfer to my new phone at the time, but I was a bit worried that I would lose all my music.
The transfer feature works by using your phone’s audio to get your music onto the device. If you have a free Google Fi plan, it will use it, but if you have a higher-rate Google Fi plan, you can transfer your music to your new phone without spending a dime. To do so, you have to tap the Google Fi icon on your phone, then choose transfer to new phone in the transfer list.
My transfer is coming in a few hours, so watch this space.
It’s a bit annoying that you have to wait, but you have to be patient, too. It’s not a long transfer, and you can only transfer 1GB of music at a time. The more music you have on your phone, the quicker you can transfer. I’m currently transferring over 100 songs, so I’m not too worried.
Once you’re in the transfer, you’ll have to tap on the Google Fi icon on the top right of your phone to start the transfer. It will then ask you to choose how many GB you want to transfer at a time. You can transfer one GB at a time, or you can transfer as many GBs as you want, but the transfer will only work if you’re connected to the internet.
So, once you transfer files to your phone, you have to make sure you’re connected to the internet. If you are not, youll find that your files don’t transfer at all.
This is Google’s fault for not having a way to transfer files without being connected. Youll find that your files will transfer after you update to the latest version of the Google Fi app.
The good news is it works on the latest version of the Google Fi app, which was released only this month. The bad news is that youll need an internet connection to transfer files to your phone. Just like when transferring to your computer, you need to update your Google Fi app to the latest version. Google Fi has been rolling out updates for months, so you really can’t just update to the latest version without it working.
