It’s not a lot but it really is. A lot. In fact, it’s one of the most important things to have on your computer. That’s because it’s a vital part of the operating system. If your internet connection goes down, icloud backups are the first place that you can go to to restore your computer.
There is already a service called “backup-a-computer.com” which promises to back up your computer to one of its three main service providers. If this service is your only option for a backup, then you’re pretty much stuck. You can’t use icloud for anything else.
The fact is that not all companies are equally reliable at backing up their computers. Most of them have their own backup systems in place. You may get a better service out of your ISP, but it doesnt mean that your ISP is going to be able to do all the things that you can with a full backup. For example, you can always back up your files to an external drive.
If youre currently using icloud then its pretty easy to understand why you might think its a bad idea to backup your files to an external drive, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you cant back up a single folder or file. Second, you can only back up a single folder or file at a time. Third, it does not include backup of files saved on your computers’s hard drive.
Sure, you can back up your files to an external drive, but the files saved to your hard drive will not be backed up. They will just be there. This is one of the big reasons why you should always backup your files to an external drive. No matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to find your files if you don’t have an external drive.
A simple backup will usually backup your system and files. It should be the easiest way to backup the whole system. It won’t work with the system where you have a hard drive.
We have a backup process that we call icloud. I’m not sure if anyone else uses it, but I’m sure its the method the majority of people follow. It’s pretty simple. You have to run icloud as long as you need to, and then shut it down. The next time you check your files, they will be automatically backed up.
It’s a nice idea, but I think I’d personally just back up my system. I think the biggest problem with backing up is that it’s too easy to forget. So if you have a lot of important files on your system, you probably should back it up.
I use icloud like every other linux user I know. But there is a downside, and that is that it takes a little time to download. I think I would personally back up my system to a good SSD, then back up the files locally.
I’m not sure that I’d back up my system. In fact the only time I ever back up my system is when I want to do a live-update. The reason being is that if I lose the internet connection or something like that my online files will not be backed up. So I usually use an offline backup system like rsync.
