I have always been a big fan of the Teletubbies and their ability to engage kids in new activities. This year I am a big fan of their newest show, Tweenie. The show is about a group of children learning and playing with the same people they created from scratch. This show is a huge hit in the UK and they are one of the only shows that has been able to take it to America and keep it for such a long time.
Tweenie is a show that I would recommend to parents just for the sheer amount of fun that it offers, but also because it’s the first show that has been able to give them a real education on how to create their own characters, how to build an environment, and also how to make them truly care about what they do.
Teletubbies seems to have found a way of making children excited about learning. All of the shows that I’ve seen that are more “serious” like Doctor Who or Star Trek, or that have more of an educational aspect like, for example, Sherlock, have often felt like they come off as too “serious” in an effort to be edgy. Teletubbies is trying to be as serious as possible and it shows here.
I get the impression that the creators of this show are just as serious about education as the children they are creating. And it’s very evident when they have to be. For example, one of the first things that I noticed when watching Teletubbies was a new character walking up to the screen and saying, “Hey, I can teach you how to do this.” I’m thinking, “That’s really cool.
